The War memorial was built in 2010 from honed Karin Grey Granite, it commemorates 17 men who died in WW1, 15 men from WW2 and 9 civilians. It also commemorates two men as fallen from "other conflicts".
A dedication ceremony was held on Sunday 16 May 2010, attended by the Lord Lieutenant of Essex, the Lord Petre; the Mayor of Chelmsford; representatives of all the armed services; members of Galleywood Parish Council and many others.
The memorial was funded by public subscription. Galleywood Parish Council maintains the War Memorial in the grounds of the Keene Hall, Watchouse Road.
